She had beaten him up for tattooing a girl's name on his chest. Why? Because his mother wants her son Ganesan (Kishore) back, who ran away from home as a 10-year-old. Murugan (Vishal) is a happy-go-lucky village bloke in Madurai who gets hauled up before the panchayat for breaking pots and wreaking havoc during the village fair along with his friends. Otherwise, it is a film which will trigger 'malarum ninaivugal' in you- of a dozen action films that you have seen in the past. "Sollittu adikkaravan illa, sollara madhiri addikiravan" (I am not the kind the to tell and hit, but hit tellingly), "Thuninjavanukku eman kooda erumba theriyum" (To the brave even death is but an ant), "Nee adicha panam, naa adicha pinam" (If you hit you get money, if I hit you get dead body) are some of the film's memorable moments. The fresh spice are some dialogues that are sure to give director Perarasu an inferiority complex and make Vijaya T Rajender feel envious. It is the same old masala of a long-lost child, and the sibling hero promising his mother that he would fetch him. However, what is missing is a convincing story. It is a formidable star cast that you see in 'Thoranai'.
